Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake Live Blog: Play-by-Play Analysis, Reaction

Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy are on the doorstep of a successful Major League Soccer Supporters' Shield defense when they take on Jason Kreis's Real Salt Lake at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Galaxy are coming off a big 2-1 win over Monarcas Morelia in CONCACAF Champions League play, and are currently 17-3-10 (61 points).

As for RSL, who are suddenly struggling on a two-game losing streak, they are 15-9-6 (51 points) and will look to continue their dominance of Los Angeles.

Real Salt Lake's last meeting with the Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium came in the form of a 4-1 victory. The defeat will be on the minds of LA, who will need to play with desperation to secure payback and, perhaps, the shield.
