Houston Dynamo, Chicago Fire Battle to 1-1 Tie in MLS Action

In a match that saw the Houston Dynamo and the Chicago Fire head to the locker room at halftime tied at one-all, the fans at Robertson Stadium saw no second half scoring and that is how the game ended; Houston 1, Chicago 1. Houston is now 10-9-13 (43 pts) on the season while Chicago moves to 10-9-13 (37 pts). The Dynamo got on the board first in the 33rd minute when midfielder Colin Clark sent home a loose ball that deflected off Fire defender Jalil Anibaba and landed in the front of the net. The goal was Clark’s fourth of the season, bringing his MLB career total to 13. The Fire got even in the 43rd minute, when forward Dominic Oduro sent the ball home with a right foot strike. Midfielder Baggio Husidic was credited with the assist. That score gave Oduro his 12th of the season and 26th of his MLS career. Houston Dynamo vs. Chicago Fire Is Breast Cancer Awareness Day

The Houston Dynamo will host Breast Cancer Awareness Day, October 1, at their game against the Chicago Fire. As part of the effort, the Dynamo are offering a special $20 ticket package that will benefit The Methodist Cancer Center.The special $20 ticket offer for the match against Chicago includes a ticket, a pink commemorative T-shirt and a field pass to be part of a human pink ribbon formed on the field. Fans will also get to meet defender Bobby Boswell after the game.Boswell was quoted in a press release issued from the Dynamo:Breast Cancer Awareness Month is important to me, because I think the women in our community, mothers, sisters, or daughters, are very important. Toronto FC vs. Houston Dynamo: Danny Cruz and Geoff Cameron Shine in Dynamo Win

Entering their game against the Toronto FC, the Houston Dynamo had not won a game since June 11 and only two since April 29. On goals by Danny Cruz and Geoff Cameron, they downed a stubborn Toronto team 2-0 in front of 19,085 fans at Robertson Stadium in Houston. Both goals occurred in the second half to raise the Dynamo’s record to 4-6-8 (23 points), while Toronto fell to 3-9-9 (18 points). In the 50th minute, midfielder Danny Cruz got the ball from forward Brian Ching. Cruz then dribbled the ball into the box and fired a shot past goalkeeper Stefan Frei for the first score of the game. The goal was the first of the season for Cruz. The Dynamo increased their margin to two in the 81st minute on an unassisted goal by Geoff Cameron. Houston Dynamo Send Three Players to CONCACAF Gold Cup 2011

Three Houston Dynamo players have been called up to represent their respective countries in the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup, which begins today, June 5, and runs through June 25. They will miss all Dynamo games beginning June 4 and will return immediately after their commitment to their national team is complete. The Gold Cup semifinals will be held in Houston on June 22 at Reliant Stadium. Houston Dynamo vs FC Dallas: Texas Derby Ends a 2-2 Tie in Game 1

On an 87th-minute goal by substitute Colin Clark, the Houston Dynamo (3-4-6, 15 pts) tied FC Dallas (6-3-4, 22 pts) 2-2 in Game 1 of the Texas Derby before 16,709 soccer fans at Houston’s Robertson Stadium. Game 2 and possession of El Capitán will be played at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco on September 24. FC Dallas struck first on an unassisted header goal by midfielder Andrew Jacobson in the 27th minute. Forward Fabian Castillo fired a shot off the cross bar which found Jacobson in position to hard the ball into the empty net to make the score 1-0. Five minutes later, Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor got into the box and crossed over to Cam Weaver, who hit the ball to Will Bruin. Bruin than chested the ball back to Weaver, but he could not get a off a shot. The Dynamo quickly rebounded and after some spirited play, found the goal in the 42nd minute to tie the score. Houston Dynamo Face FC Dallas for Possession of El Capitán

The Houston Dynamo will take to the field at Robertson Stadium on Saturday night to take on in-state rival FC Dallas. The game will be the first of two home-and-home matches to determine possession of El Capitán. El Capitán is a Civil War mountain howitzer which is awarded to the two-game series winner. Houston has won El Capitán in three of the past five seasons, but Dallas took possession in 2010 with a 1-0-1 record. The second game of the series will be played in September 24 in Frisco. Houston (3-4-5) will be looking to end a five-game winless streak and continue its domination of the head-to-head series against Dallas. The Dynamo leads the series 9-4-6 all-time. Will Bruin and Cam Weaver continue to lead the team with a combined seven goals this season, with midfielder Brad Davis leading the MLS with six assists. Houston Dynamo Ties New York Red Bulls 2-2 in MLS Action

The Houston Dynamo (3-3-5, 14 points) battled to a 2-2 tie with the New York Red Bulls (4-2-4, 16 points) in MLS action at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium. The Red Bulls tied the game in the 90th minute when Mehdi Ballouchy headed home a Joel Lindpere corner kick to endure the tie. The Red Bulls got off to an early lead in the first minute when midfielder Dane Richards put the Red Bulls on the board early with a rocket past Tally Hall with an assist from forward Luke Rodgers. The Dynamo came back and tied the game on a Brad Davis penalty kick fired past Sutton to tie the score at 1-1. The Dynamo took the lead in the 82nd minute when Koke fired home a rebound past Red Bulls goalkeeper Greg Sutton for the score. The Dynamo will next face the L.A. Philadelphia Union Down Houston Dynamo 1-0 in Major League Soccer Action

The Philadelphia Union jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute over the Houston Dynamo and held onto the lead to give Houston its first home season-opener loss in club history. The score came on a short kick by defender Danny Califf when Sheanon Williams throw deep to the Dynamo side, taking them by surprise. While the Dynamo tried to regroup, Sebastian Le Toux shot from five yards out, hitting the crossbar. Califf got the ricochet and chipped it in for the game’s only score. The entire game was very physical, with three yellow cards issued in the game; Philadelphia’ Carlos Ruiz in the 20th minute for a reckless foul and Houston’s Brad Davis (22nd minute) and Califf (44th minute) for reckless tackles. To start the second half, the game was lost on local television and monitors in the stadium as the power supplying the transmission truck went out, and the signal was lost. It was back on line half-way though the second half. The Dynamo controlled the ball the majority of the game but could not find a way to put it in the goal. MLS Action 2011: Houston Dynamo Face Off Against the Philadelphia Union

As the Houston Dynamo prepare to kick off their final season at Robertson Stadium, the question among fans and media alike is if they can return to the form that brought them two consecutive MLB Cups. Their first test of 2011 will be against the Philadelphia Union, a team that beat Houston in the first game ever between the two teams, 3-2 on May 29, 2010 in Houston. In their second match, they battled to a 1-1 tie on Oct. 2. The Dynamo will have a younger look this season, with 40 percent of the squad yet to play in an official game. Against the Union, the Dynamo will start Tally Hall in the net, with Jason Garey and Will Bruin slated to start at the forward position. On defense, head coach Dominic Kinnear will go with Hunter Freeman, Bobby Boswell, Jermaine Taylor and Andre Hainault. Rounding out the starting line up against the Union will be Corey Ashe, Geoff Cameron, Lovel Palmer and captain Brad Davis at midfield.
