David Beckham Promotes His New Cologne on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’

Last October, David Beckham went on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and joined the hostess in a hidden-camera prank where he messed with a masseuse. The duo had so much fun that they decided to try it again in an effort to promote DB Homme, Beckham's new cologne. This time, the L.A. Galaxy star dresses as an employee of American discount store Target and sprays passing customers with the cologne, badgering them with chants and encouraging them to sample the fragrance if they stink and attempting to convince shoppers he's not David Beckham; he's from Australia. He may be able to take direction on the pitch, but it looks like Becks has a little trouble faking a Texas accent and taking Ellen's hidden-mic prompts.Oh, and just wait until you hear him sing. Watch the clip here.Read more MLS news on BleacherReport.com

Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Liga Deportiva Alajuelense: Redemption Time For LA

Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy did not acquit themselves ahead of Wednesday night's CONCACAF Champions League match with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense. The Galaxy were dropped in a 2-1 defeat late in the second half to Monarcas Morelia and were just rebounding with their 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS action. “I don’t think that was an easy game,” Arena told MLSSoccer.com's Luis Bueno. “I thought Vancouver played quite hard, really gave us an excellent first half. That’s not a 3-0 game.” “We found a way to put that [loss to Morelia] behind us pretty quickly, which shows a lot for our team,” said Galaxy midfielder Mike Magee. “Getting a win quick was good because sometimes after those losses, they get contagious and you could lose a couple of games after.” Forward Robbie Keane scored in the Galaxy's defeat to Morelia in the 52nd minute. “Most important thing tonight was bouncing back from mid-week and we managed to do that,” Keane said. “Like anything, when you’re winning games and scoring goals it makes thing a lot easier, and that’s been the case since I’ve been here. So far it’s been going well and all-in-all, very happy.” Oscar Ramirez's Alajuelense ...

LA Galaxy vs Vancouver Whitecaps: Mike Magee on Fire in 3-0 Win

"Magee! Magee! Magee is on fire!" That was the chanting of the men and women of the Angel City Brigade as they celebrated a brace from Mike Magee in the 40th and 75th minutes en route to a 3-0 victory for Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy over Tom Soehn's Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Home Depot Center. Forget about the fact that Robbie Keane somersaulted his way to his third goal in all competitions in a Galaxy uniform in the 64th minute. This was Magee's night. Magee, a longtime fan favorite, finished off a sequence from David Beckham and Keane in the 40th minute to drill one past Whitecaps goalkeeper and former Galaxy netminder Joe Cannon, who was making his 300th appearance in Major League Soccer. In the 75th minute, Magee received a cross from Bryan Jordan to effectively put the game out of reach. I have a bit of a gripe with the officiating by Michael Kennedy and crew. In the ninth minute, Cannon clearly pushed the ball out of bounds on a pass by Keane inside the six-yard box. Kennedy called a goal kick when it should have been an offsides. I sympathize a bit ...

As a result, Dallas appeared out of sync lost for the second consecutive week to an Eastern Conference foe.On Saturday night, the Red Bulls played the first of their final seven games with a 1-4-9 road record. Ex-Manchester United Trialist Freddy Adu Putting His Career Back on Track in MLS

At the mere age of 14, Freddy Adu had the whole footballing world licking their lips at the thought of having a true American footballing prospect. Fresh-faced Adu had just signed a huge sponsorship deal with sports giants Nike and was allocated as the first pick in the 2004 MLS Superdraft. Having been picked up by 2004 Eastern Conference champs DC United, Adu had American soccer fans and pundits eating off the palm of his small hands. Even for American sport, a 14-year-old professional athlete is quite something.Fast forward seven years, and after a serious lack of playing time in Europe, Adu has begrudgingly returned back to the MLS. It is argued that Adu is the perfect example of a young man given too much too young. The Ghanaian-born American proved difficult to manage under DC United’s fiery manager at the time, Peter Nowak. Ironically, it is Nowak’s Philadelphia Union side Adu has just joined on a free transfer. The fame got to his head. He dated US singer JoJo and constantly tried courting the interest of European clubs via the media. After complaining about playing time in the States, a 16-year-old Freddy Adu was once given a trial at England ...

Portland Timbers Keep MLS Playoff Hopes Alive, Dominate New England Revolution

The Portland Timbers are still alive. The team's pulse was slow and faint just a few weeks ago after a harsh loss to Sporting K.C., but now they are clearly alive and well. The Timbers have gone unbeaten in their last four matches and kept clean sheets in their last three. If the season were to end today, they would find themselves in a playoff position—an absolutely tremendous feat for the MLS newcomers.Portland came out Friday night with incredible energy. They were determined. This was nothing new for games at Jeld-Wen Field, but with every game vital, it was important that they didn't play timid and flat. This energy turned into an early goal from Diego Chara (9th minute) off a beautiful Lovel Palmer cross. Chara just tapped it past Revolution keeper Matt Reis in a one-on-one situation.Kenny Cooper had some amazing opportunities to score early but failed to capitalize on them until the 32nd minute. Mike Chabala hit a wide-open cross from the left side towards a streaking Cooper, who was running like a diesel truck toward the goal. Cooper drilled it into the back of the net off his left knee, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. It was a brilliant first ...

This Is The Los Angeles Galaxy: Dasan Robinson

This is Part 14 in a list of players who will play for the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2011 Major League Soccer season. Dasan Robinson, turns out you can go home again. After a brief stint with Toronto FC, Robinson will be reunited with Dave Sarachan, his mentor from his time with the Chicago Fire. Sarachan is now a member of Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy coaching staff. With the defense running thin, Robinson has an opportunity to shore up the backline of one of Major League Soccer's best teams this season. Dasan Alexander Robinson was born in Evanston, Illinois, on June 4, 1984. Robinson grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and was a graduate of Elyria High School. A top defender at the University of Dayton, Robinson played four seasons with the Flyers before joining the Chicago Fire Premier of the USL Premier Development League. Robinson recorded six goals in 13 assists in 68 matches for the Flyers. After 29 appearances on defense for the Fire Premier, Robinson was selected as the 22nd overall pick in the second round by the Chicago Fire in the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. There, he was tutored by Sarachan, making 85 league appearances ...

Hope Solo Video: Watch MLS Striker Attempt to Honor Hope

This video reminds me of an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The awkwardness jumps up, out of the screen and punches you in the face. Hope Solo and the rest of the U.S. Women’s National Team will be playing a friendly match, against Canada this Saturday. They are training at Sporting Kansas City’s MLS training complex. Solo, the newest contestant on Dancing With The Stars, has turned into a pretty large celebrity, and her presence amongst soccer players can cause them to go head over heels. Enter Sporting KC striker C.J. Sapong. He clearly fell in love with her success this summer and was inspired to write her a poem. With plenty of cameras and media members snapping pictures, Sapong began to recite his poem with lines like this: "I heard you were coming to KC, feelings couldn’t express the words inside of me." After only a few lines, Sapong got cold feet and stopped his “performance.” But as a true competitor, he kept going, much to the chagrin of Solo, who looks incredibly uncomfortable at this point. Eventually, he finishes his poem while rhyming words like “Solo” and “coco” and gets a big hug from his favorite goalie. The ...
