Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa Oil Up for ‘New York’ Photoshoot
After a disappointing 2-0 defeat to local rivals New York Red Bulls on Sunday, New York City FC stars Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa will have surely been cheered up by seeing their greased-up selves all over a New York magazine photoshoot.Judging by the looks on their faces, however, the trio didn't exactly enjoy being oiled up for the shoot, which then mercilessly spread across the Internet. Pirlo didn't sign up for this.. pic.twitter.com/izlcZCWUMD— Soccer St. (@SoccerSt_) August 10, 2015 Cheer up, lads. Seattle Sounders’ CenturyLink Field Among New Stadiums Featured in ‘FIFA 16’
EA Sports have announced that nine new stadiums will be featured in the upcoming FIFA 16 game, including the Seattle Sounders' CenturyLink Field and Marseille's newly revamped Stade Velodrome. The new title will also welcome Norwich City, Watford and Bournemouth to the Premier League by including their home grounds in impressive detail. However, the most interesting inclusion is that of English League Two side Portsmouth FC's Fratton Park, which was added to the game in honour of former FIFA Creative Director Simon Humber, who sadly died of cancer earlier this year.Humber was a passionate Pompey fan, so as a tribute, FIFA 16 artists created a wreath of flowers beside one goal at the animated Fratton Park.[EA Sports]Read more MLS news on BleacherReport.com15Jul/150
Frank Lampard Buys 16 Tickets for Fans He’d Just Met to Watch New York City FC
He's always been considered one of the game's greatest role models, but Frank Lampard seems to have enhanced his already-stellar reputation by apparently buying 16 tickets for a group of British fans he'd just met after training with New York City FC. Lampard is alleged to have done the good deed after one of the group asked him for tickets to New York City's game with Toronto, which took place on Sunday. After initially explaining he only had four complimentary tickets to the game, the former England midfielder dipped into his pocket to buy another 16 tickets for the 20-strong party, at a cost of almost $500. The chuffed fans took to social media to share the news and praise the Chelsea legend. Still can't believe Frank Lampard bought all 16 of us tickets to go to the New York City game today! 😁👌🏻 what a legend, — Lisaaaaa :D (@lisamc93) July 12, 2015 While Lampard missed the game due to a calf strain, the group were treated to a thrilling 4-4 draw, with David Villa scoring twice for New York. Steven Gerrard Is Not Very Well-Known in LA
Premier League legend? Check. Former England captain? Check. Scored against the USA in the 2010 World Cup? Check. Surely, with the steady growth of soccer in the USA and the success of David Beckham on the West Coast, you'd think most people in Los Angeles would have heard of new Galaxy star Steven Gerrard. Apparently not, according to a video produced by Sky Sports in which people on the streets of L.A. were asked if they were familiar with the former Liverpool captain ahead of his upcoming Galaxy debut. Respondents include a Samuel L. Jackson impersonator and a big fan of "cutie guy" David Beckham. Gerrard could make his debut for the Galaxy against Club America on July 11 and will hope his performances can quickly earn him more of a following in his new hometown.
