MLS Star Nigel Reo-Coker Injured After Tripping over Bike Rack on Walk
Nigel Reo-Coker of the Vancouver Whitecaps is an injury doubt for his side's next MLS game after what the league described on its website as an "off-field walking accident." Reo-Coker, who had stints in the Premier League with Aston Villa and West Ham United, was apparently walking in Vancouver when disaster struck: This, after the former Aston Villa and West Ham United star suffered a nasty gash to his face while walking the streets of Vancouver on Sunday. The club has stated the Englishman was looking elsewhere while walking when he tripped over a bike rack, cutting his face and hitting his head in the process. Accidents happen. Just not often like this. [h/t Dirty Tackle]Read more MLS news on BleacherReport.com25Mar/140
NYCFC Fan Gets Club Tattoo Before 1st Game, Defects from New York Red Bulls
New York City Football Club may have only just decided upon their club crest and still have at least around a year until they play their first game in the MLS, but that hasn't stopped a New York Red Bulls fan from defecting to the club and getting a tattoo. The club's supporters group posted a picture of the stamp on their Twitter feed: Got ink? Look what one of our supporters got -- pic.twitter.com/FDcZT2T2qD — NYCFC Supporters (@NYCFC_SC) March 23, 2014 Interestingly, though, Empire of Soccer carries quotes from the fan, explaining why he got the ink: Being part of something from Day 1 was also a big pull for me. The Man City angle doesn't bother me. I even support another EPL team. MLS learned its lesson with Chivas and I think that’s evidenced by how distinct the NYCFC badge is from Man City’s. [...] Once the badge came out, I was struck by the interlocking NYC. It felt timeless to me—bigger than just a soccer team. In my opinion, it will become as synonymous with NY soccer as the interlocking NY of the Yankees is to baseball in the city and the US. Getting it inked is not just an homage to the club, but ...4Feb/140
NYCFC Ask Fans to Design Badge for MLS Team, Doesn’t Go Well
New York City Football Club, the new MLS franchise co-owned by the New York Yankees and Manchester City, had a simple idea: ask fans on Twitter to design their new club badge. But as anyone who saw the #AskCarrick event Monday on Twitter can tell, social media doesn't always play nicely. Accordingly, some of the proposed designs were not exactly likely to find their way onto the club's shirt in the future. Here, we round up some of the best efforts.Begin Slideshow28Oct/130
Thierry Henry Scores Wondergoal as New York Red Bulls Win Supporters’ Shield
Thierry Henry's Indian summer in the MLS continues, with the New York Red Bulls captain bagging a stunning goal in his side's 5-2 victory over Chicago Fire. The former France striker finished off a counter-attack with a quite breathtaking finish, chesting down a through ball on the edge of the area, and then drilling in the bouncing ball off the underside of the crossbar. That levelled the score at 1-1, and from there the Red Bulls didn't look back. The result also meant New York won their maiden Supporters' Shield, boasting the best record in the regular season. Thierry Henry Plays Backheel Pass Down the Line for New York Red Bulls
Thierry Henry takes a break from #Henrying and does something else awesome instead. The Frenchman was spotted playing a brilliant backheel pass down the line for the New York Red Bulls to a teammate as his side hosted New England Revolution. It was a good game with a thrilling finish—the Revolution went up 2-1 in the 91st minute, only for former Everton star Tim Cahill to bag a 97th-minute equaliser and salvage a draw.Read more MLS news on BleacherReport.com7Oct/130
Camilo Da Silva Sanvezzo Scores Scissors Kick for Vancouver Whitecaps
The Vancouver Whitecaps were heading toward a pretty tame defeat to the Portland Timbers in the MLS on Sunday night when Camilo da Silva Sanvezzo turned the match on its head. Robbie Keane Scores Outrageous Goal in LA Galaxy Training, Caught on Instagram
Robbie Keane is still banging the goals in for L.A. Galaxy and Ireland, but you probably haven't seen too many like this one he tucked away in training. Caught on Instagram, Keane controls with precision, flicks the ball one way and the other before juggling for a couple of steps and then volleying into the corner. Even without defenders, that's not too shabby.Read more MLS news on BleacherReport.com20Sep/130
