MLS: L.A. Galaxy and New York Red Bulls Turn out Titanic Draw

In terms of footballing stature, two names would be at the top of the list of players you want to see play before you die: David Beckham and Thierry Henry.The two clashed as the L.A. Galaxy and New York Red Bulls went head-to-head Saturday. Perhaps the two largest franchises in the MLS circuit, L.A. and New York fought out a 1-1 draw at the Home Depot Center in California, but it was the football on display that ended up being the winner. In an entertaining match that could have ended with many more goals, it was sad to see it end and a pleasure to have watched all at the same time. Goals from Thierry Henry and Landon Donovan saw the nets bulge at both ends, but the winner on the night was the reputation of America's soccer league, proving that it's not a part player in the sports arena anymore. CONCACAF Champions League Final: RSL and Monterrey End in a 2-2 Draw

Javier Morales rescued a draw for MLS side Real Salt Lake to earn themselves a 2-2 away draw with Monterrey in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League final at Technologico stadium in Mexico.The Mexican side took the lead through Aldo de Nigris in the 18th minute, but Nat Borchers levelled for the MLS team in the 35th minute. Monterrey, however, took the lead again with a goal from Humberto Suaza. When it looked like the match had been won, up popped Morales to score an equalizing goal with a few minutes left to play. The return leg takes place on April 27th in Sandy, Utah. Should RSL win the tie, they will become the first MLS side to win the Champions League since the LA Galaxy managed it in the year 2000. Soccer Time in Galveston as Pirates Face MLS Side Houston Dynamo

A few times in a lifetime, an opportunity presents itself to prove you have what it takes to compete with the big boys. Saturday is one of those occasions for the players of Galveston Pirates as they face up to MLS Houston Dynamo Academy side.   As the MLS side gets the new season off and running, their Academy side is like any other in the world of football, bringing through the best young stars from around the state in the hope of providing the senior squad with players to improve the playing 11 on the field. As Galveston prepare themselves for the HFA season ahead, this is an excellent test of their metal and an expertly timed morale boost for coach Brendan Keyes and his players. The more competitive and professionally run HFA will prove to be a stern test for the Pirate side as they look to keep improving as a team and increase their fan base within the Galveston Island area.
