With some of the stars of Major League Soccer away from their clubs due to international duty, Week 11 presented some players with a chance to step up and show their worth. Obafemi Martins Scores from Ridiculous Angle for Seattle Sounders

The Seattle Sounders beat the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 on Saturday night in Major League Soccer, and the game's only goal was worthy of winning just about any match. It came in the eighth minute via Seattle's Obafemi Martins, who responded to being snubbed for Nigeria's World Cup squad this week by saying that he would play his own World Cup in the Pacific Northwest with his Sounders teammates. Philadelphia Union’s Maurice Edu Gives Fans Glimpse of MLS Day with Google Glass

For MLS player Maurice Edu, the day begins and ends much in the same way as your day might: brushing your teeth. However, it's that captivating stuff in between that might differ from your daily experience.  For the Win's Nina Mandell spotted this posted video, featuring Edu going about his day and recording it all thanks to the budding technology Google Glass.  As with any day, there is plenty of tedium. However, it's that daily routine that is part of the video's charm, offering what it truly means to see a professional athlete head off to work for the less glamorous part of his life.  This isn't the first time we have seen an athlete don Glass for our benefit, showing up in various videos thanks to former NFL kicker Chris Kluwe.  And it won't be the last.  CNN Money reports Glass was once again put on sale to the masses for a hefty price of $1,500. Dom Dwyer Becoming MLS All-Star Candidate, Breaks Top 5 in Scoring

Dom Dwyer of Sporting Kansas City isn't just looking up to his teammates anymore. Without question, his mates are looking to him. "He’s a very hungry forward and he is relentless when it comes to being around the box," his coach Peter Vermes told media including the Kansas City Star. "He found some very good opportunities and the second goal he finished was a fantastic finish." It's that finishing ability that Dwyer seemed to just lack as he rose to the top of the league in shots attempted but didn't have the ratio of goals he wanted to show for it. Until Saturday in Montreal. Dwyer finished with two goals on four shots to crack the top five in scoring. His efforts were bound to pay off, as the forward out of London is an extremely hard worker on the pitch. If he can maintain his performance to this point in the season, he's certainly in the discussion for a spot on the MLS All-Star Game roster as a reserve player. How Clint Dempsey’s Loan at Fulham Has Paid off in MLS

There were few raised eyebrows when Clint Dempsey decided to return to England for a loan spell with Fulham during the MLS off-season. The US international had failed to make a significant impact for the Seattle Sounders since making a sensational $9 million switch from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2013, and with the World Cup looming, he had to do something to regain his form and show that he still has what it takes to lead the line for his country. With just one goal in nine appearances for the Sounders, Dempsey didn’t make the impact many expected he would after impressing in England’s top flight since his move from the New England Revolution in January 2007.
