New York Red Bulls: South Ward to Protest Against Organization on Saturday

New York City - For the first half of Saturday's New York Red Bulls match against FC Dallas, Red Bull Arena will not have the ruckus that many are accustomed too as the South Ward has decided to watch the first half in silence. The South Ward which consists of the supporters clubs of the Viking Army, the Garden State Supporters (GSS) , and the Empire Supporters Club (ESC) are simply frustrated with some of the organization's recent decision. The Empire Supporters Club posted a letter explaining their decision this morning. It's mainly centered around the Red Bulls decisions regarding the team's recent United States Open Cup match against the Chicago Fire. To read the letter which was submitted to the New York Red Bulls: http://bit.ly/omaW4eJust to be clear, the South Ward protest isn't against the players, it's against the management. For Viking Army member Ralph "Chupi" Garcia, they're also protesting the recent dismissal of long-time New York Red Bulls Latino Communications Duo of Ernesto Motta and Roberto Sierra.A few days ago, Chupi reached out to me and informed me of the South Ward's decision to protest the first half of Saturday's match against FC Dallas. Galaxy excited to clash with Man CityFor Bruce Arena's Los Angeles Galaxy, getting a victory against Manchester City will not be necessary on Sunday afternoon at the Home Depot Center.I love any game that I could either watch or coach in that we don’t have to win,” Arena said of the tie, which is part of the 2011 Herbalife World Football Challenge. “I don’t get that many in my life. I enjoy that, and I think that’s how the players approach it and give their best effort.“I’m really going to enjoy it this Sunday.”So, does Mr. David Beckham think much of this match?“No, because it’s Man City,” Beckham told LAGalaxy.com's Larry Morgan. “All joking aside, it’s going to be great for our fans to see some of their great players and a great experience for our team as well.“There’s motivation in every game that we play It doesn’t matter whether we’re playing against Columbus, Real Madrid (a 4-1 winner last Saturday at the L.A. Brek Shea Video: Check out Shea’s Laser of a Goal Against Toronto

If there's one thing FC Dallas star Brek Shea is known for, it's his goofy hair. We know this because Shea's hair actually has its own Twitter account. Then again, Shea might just be more well known for his impressive ability to score goals at will. Actually, that probably is how most people know Shea.If that doesn't ring any bells, go ahead and take a look at the goal Shea scored on Wednesday night against Toronto FC. About three minutes after halftime, Shea took control of the ball, right around midfield, before cutting straight through the defense towards the goal. He released his shot from about 30 yards out, and it's a good thing nobody was in the way. The ball probably would have gone through them.Shea's strike found its way past Toronto keeper Stefan Frei, clanked off the left post and settled in the back of the net to give Dallas a 1-0 lead. The crowd packed into BMO Field was not pleased, and Shea's goal proved to be all Dallas needed to come away with a victory. It was Shea's ninth goal of the season, which at the time tied him for the MLS lead. Unfortunately, Thierry Henry would go ...

Does the U.S. Deserve a World Cup Championship?

A few days ago, the 2011 Women's World Cup came to a stunning and exhilarating conclusion.  The U.S. Women's team lost a heartbreaking thriller on penalty kicks to the underdog Japanese.  While not garnering as much attention as the Men's World Cup last summer, many sports fans in America followed the women's team closely, and were rewarded with great success from the squad.  The team played with passion and great effort as it fought to a victory over world power Brazil and also overcame France.  In these regards, the women's team reminds me of their male counterparts, who lost in a similarly emotional way in last summer's tournament, yet displayed grit and toughness.   After the successes and failures of the United States' soccer squads in World Cups, the future of American soccer must be analyzed.  One controversial question must be asked in this discussion.Does America deserve to be World Cup Champions? In countries such as Brazil, France, Spain, and Ghana, futbol is king.  The sport dominates the athletic landscape on a level that Americans find difficult to grasp.  The dedication and passion that fans in these countries have for their futbol teams is unparalleled.  Nearly the entire world outside of America worships ...
